Far East Movement at the Asian Heritage Street Celebration 2010

May 17th, 2010 by Jonas / Filed under Concert, Events, Festivals / Leave A Comment

The Asian Heritage Street Celebration hosted its 6th annual street fair at the Civic Center this year. This festival seems to get bigger and bigger each year. I checked it out briefly (because the meter had an hour limit) and made it in time for Far East Movement’s performance. They really do know how to [...]

2010 Taiwanese American Cultural Festival San Francisco

May 11th, 2010 by Jonas / Filed under Events, Festivals / Leave A Comment

Another year, another Taiwanese festival at Union Square. I attended the 2010 Taiwanese American Cultural Festival, just for a little bit. It was enough time to grab a bite and watch the opening ceremony where a group of elementary schoolers sang the national anthem. I wish this festival was a lot bigger, and I wish [...]

Halloween in the Castro 2009

November 2nd, 2009 by Jonas / Filed under Events, Festivals, Parties / Leave A Comment

I didn’t know if anything was going to happen in the Castro this year, but according to Twitter updates and Facebook status updates, something was definitely going down. When we got there, it felt like Halloween in the Castro was coming to a revival. There was no organized party and roads were not closed off, [...]

Saturday Night Eats in the Mission: Humphry Slocombe, Mission Street Food and Bi-Rite Creamery

August 23rd, 2009 by Jonas / Filed under Dessert, Events, Festivals, Food, Street Food / Leave A Comment

Helen and I attempted to grub at the San Francisco Street Food Festival last minute towards the end of it. When we got there, a lot of the stands were already out of food, and the ones remaining had crazy lines that that were barely moving, so we decided to have our own little street [...]

J-Pop Summit Festival at Japantown

August 17th, 2009 by Jonas / Filed under Events, Festivals, Food, Japanese / Leave A Comment

The J-Pop Summit Festival at Japantown was like nothing I’ve ever seen before in SF. I’m glad I decided to go last minute to “kill time”. Unlike other festivals, this one wasn’t loaded with corporate vendors trying to market their business and make sales. Instead, there were local/Japanese-related booths set up. Also, it wasn’t your [...]

We woke up, ate, and never stopped … until we went to sleep. Dim sum at Bing Sheng. Linda wanted dim sum, we wanted to eat near Sean, so we went with Bing Sheng. Not bad! Nick and Ken also joined us towards the end of our meal. Waffles at Patisserie Lebeau. I love Belgian [...]

July 5th, 2009 by Jonas / Filed under Events, Festivals / Leave A Comment

After dinner at Burma Superstar, we all went to watch the The City of San Francisco’s Fireworks Extravaganza at Fisherman’s Wharf. We watched from afar around the Marina area. I didn’t have a tripod so I had to improvised and used what was around me – a police truck.

San Francisco Fillmore Jazz Festival 2009

July 5th, 2009 by Jonas / Filed under Bakery, Cajun/Creole, Events, Festivals, Food / Leave A Comment

Linda and I went to the Fillmore Jazz Festival. We got there pretty late (around 4pm) and it was still crowded. We weren’t that hungry so we only got a giant red velvet cupcake and a sweet potato peach pie from Marita’s Sweet Potato Pie Co. and fried oysters with garlic fries from one of [...]

Solange Knowles at SF Pride 2009

July 1st, 2009 by Jonas / Filed under Concert, Events, Festivals / Leave A Comment

Here are some pictures from Solange Knowle’s (Beyonce’s younger sister) performance at SF Pride. She performed just two or three acts before BoA. I’d say that most people were there to see those two divas. After they finish, the crowd around the main stage definitely cleared up.
