Pearl Milk Tea at Tapioca Express in Gilroy

May 31st, 2010 by Jonas / Filed under Coffee & Drinks, Food / Leave A Comment

Who woulda guessed that there’s an Asian plaza in the small city of Gilroy? The plaza is pretty big, but it’s also pretty empty, as most of its real estate is still vacant. One of it’s occupants, though, is Tapioca Express. My green milk tea (奶綠) was too sweet, but as the only milk tea [...]

Beef Noodle Soup at Sweet Delite Gourmet Foods Co

May 17th, 2010 by Jonas / Filed under Chinese, Coffee & Drinks, Food / Leave A Comment

I know it’s near impossible to find Taiwanese food in San Francisco, but they do exist. Sweet Delite Gourmet Foods Company reminds me of the small, local shops in Taiwan. It’s a small place with a large drinks selection but a small food menu, and when I went, there was just two old ladies working [...]

Green Milk Tea at Dessert Republic

April 26th, 2010 by Jonas / Filed under Chinese, Coffee & Drinks, Dessert, Food / 2 Comments

I like the green milk tea (奶綠) at Dessert Republic. Why? Because they use real matcha powder. You can taste the difference. That’s all this time! 138 Main St San Mateo, CA 94401 (650) 401-3570

Must Eat Milk Tea at Cynthia’s Crepes

April 18th, 2010 by Jonas / Filed under Coffee & Drinks, Food, Must Eat / Leave A Comment

I just had some of the best milk tea in San Francisco ever from Cynthia’s Crepes over on Clement St. Actually, I got their milk green tea, which is my default drink of choice at these Taiwanese drink stations. It wasn’t overly sweet, the tea tasted like what I get in Taiwan, and the pearls [...]

Mango Tofusion at Eggettes in Glen Park

April 10th, 2010 by Jonas / Filed under Coffee & Drinks, Dessert, Food / Leave A Comment

There’s a handful of Eggettes out there, but my favorite is the one in Glen Park. I feel like the quality of their food and drinks is better, plus there’s a lot more going on in there with their couch and big screen tv, games, and even their new frozen yogurt bar. Anyway, I always [...]

Must Eat Cupcakes at Big Sugar Bakeshop in Studio City

March 20th, 2010 by Jonas / Filed under Bakery, Coffee & Drinks, Dessert, Food, Los Angeles County, Must Eat, Travels / 1 Comment

What I love about Big Sugar Bakeshop is that it rates a zero in the “pretentiousness scale” but a ten for good taste. It looks like a typical local cafe when you walk in, but their cupcakes are some of the best I’ve had, with the cakes all being moist, and the frosting being light [...]

Tea Time at Bricks and Scones

March 13th, 2010 by Jonas / Filed under Coffee & Drinks, Food, Los Angeles County, Travels / Leave A Comment

We had a small bite and some tea at Bricks and Scones. Their rose champagne tea was my favorite. They use tea from Lupicia, a Japanese tea boutique. Their scones were also well-made. I’d pass on the cupcake next time. That red velvet cupcake had nice flavor but was too dry. Neighborhood: Mid Wilshire 403 [...]

Tuttimelon Grand Reopening at North Beach/Chinatown

February 1st, 2010 by Jonas / Filed under Coffee & Drinks, Dessert, Food / Leave A Comment

The Tuttimelon in Chinatown/North Beach reopened this weekend, now as a self-serve frozen yogurt shop and as a hybrid store along with Tea Way, i.e., they now offer pearl milk tea drinks and fried snacks. They also still serve gelato (since they also used to be Yoogo Gelato). They were offering free frozen yogurt today [...]

Hot Apple Pie Drink at Posh

January 16th, 2010 by Jonas / Filed under Coffee & Drinks, Dessert, Food, French, Taiwan, Travels / Leave A Comment

We went to Posh II (the second location of Posh) for dessert. Their desserts didn’t have much of a wow factor, although their hot apple pie drink really did taste like a warm apple pie, but in drink form. Everything else (chocolate with ice cream, yogurt drink, crepe) was okay. 台北市大安區敦化南路一段190巷42號‎ – 02-2773-0568‎

Cakes at Crown

January 15th, 2010 by Jonas / Filed under Bakery, Coffee & Drinks, Food, Taiwan, Travels / Leave A Comment

The cakes at Crown beats the cakes at other drink places. My favorites were the green tea mousse cake and the strawberry chocolate tart. Crown is open 24 hours so it’s an ideal place for people with a sweet tooth to hang out. I also had their “Steamed Taffy Milk” and it was delicious.
