Nute’s Cupcakes at New Taste Marketplace

September 3rd, 2011 by Jonas / Filed under Bakery, Dessert, Food, Thai / Leave A Comment

I wanted to give a special mention to Nute’s Cupcakes. Asian-flavored mini cupcakes is her thing, like green tea and chili lime, though the group favorite seemed to be pandan. On another note, she also serves some mean green curry. I was able to try her stuff at the New Taste Marketplace, which happens once [...]

January 4th, 2011 by Jonas / Filed under Food, Hong Kong, Thai, Travels / Leave A Comment

I had lunch at Red Chili 紅辣椒, a Thai restaurant chain in Hong Kong, during the afternoon tea hours. About HKD$50 got me a full meal. (Look at that picture.) It wasn’t too memorable, but it’s not bad for quick meal. The food came out fast! Don’t blink or you might miss it.

Must Eat Thai Food at Lers Ros Thai

November 17th, 2010 by Jonas / Filed under Food, Must Eat, Thai / Leave A Comment

My favorite Thai restaurant in San Francisco is possibly Lers Ros Thai, set in the heart of the Tenderloin district. Their menu has items that you just can’t find in other Thai restaurants, like salted egg salad, or roasted pork shoulder slices, or even alligator. It’s also open til midnight every day! 730 Larkin St [...]

Thai Food at Tai Feng Wei

January 3rd, 2010 by Jonas / Filed under Food, Taiwan, Thai, Travels / Leave A Comment

For those looking for good and cheap hole-in-the-wall Thai restaurant, check out Tai Feng Wei (泰風味) at the Red House courtyard, aka the gay district in Ximending. It’s so tiny that it’s easy to miss. The older woman working there is from Thailand, and the younger man who works there is her punk-looking nephew. It’s [...]

Thai Dinner at Chabaa Thai Cuisine

November 21st, 2009 by Jonas / Filed under Food, Thai / Leave A Comment

Chabaa Thai Cuisine is the one Thai restaurant I know with an actual full page of noodle soups. You get your choice of flat rice noodles, rice stick noodles, vermicelli noodles, or egg noodles. We went with the combination beef noodle soup, which had all things beef, with flat rice noodles. We also got an [...]

Pad Woon Sen at King of Thai

November 17th, 2009 by Jonas / Filed under Food, Thai / Leave A Comment

I needed a really quick meal and I knew just where to go: King of Thai. I went to the one on Clement St. I feel like they – they being all King of Thai restaurants – get their food out faster than fast food chains out there, yet everything is cooked to order. How [...]

Lunch at Siam Kitchen

November 13th, 2009 by Jonas / Filed under Food, Thai / Leave A Comment

I’ve been working in the Financial District for years now and I finally went to check out Siam Kitchen for some Thai food. I just don’t think that there are any Thai restaurants that stand out in the Financial District. Siam Kitchen was just okay. Nothing memorable. Everyone raves about their Gai Kra Prow (Spicy [...]

Lunch at Marnee Thai

September 21st, 2009 by Jonas / Filed under Food, Thai / Leave A Comment

I haven’t been to Marnee Thai on Irving St. in years! This is one of my favorite Thai restaurants in the city too. I thought I’d be different this time and order dishes that I don’t usually eat when I go to a Thai restaurant. I ordered their rice crackers that came with a curry [...]
