Day 1 in Vancouver: Non-Stop Eating

We woke up, ate, and never stopped … until we went to sleep.

Dim sum at Bing Sheng. Linda wanted dim sum, we wanted to eat near Sean, so we went with Bing Sheng. Not bad! Nick and Ken also joined us towards the end of our meal.

Waffles at Patisserie Lebeau. I love Belgian waffles, and this bakery had them in different flavors. Linda had the waffle coated with sliced almonds. John had the orange-flavored waffle. I had the coconut-coated one. I liked Linda’s and mine the best because the extra toppings added extra moisture to the waffle.

Custard ice cream at Milwaukee Market Creamery. I think majority vote goes towards their purple yam (ube) ice cream. Maybe it’s an Asian thing? Their fruity ones – lemon and pineapple – were really good too. Awesome, friendly people here!

Hot dogs at Japa Dog. This time I got to try the second location at Burrard and Pender, which was not as crowded, thank God! Nick thinks this place is just alright. It’s not something he would go to Vancouver for. I beg to differ. This is the place I have to visit every time I go to Vancouver. Linda and I shared an okonomi kurobuta hot dog (my all-time favorite) and a bratwurst terimayo hot dog. Both were delicious. JONASAPPROVED!

Boba at Bubble World Restaurant. Some of the best boba I’ve ever had, and I’ve had plenty. Service, on the other had, could be better. They asked us to sit at the waiting area rather than the dining area even though the place wasn’t even full. I’ll still go back, though.

Japanese buffet at Kingsway Sushi. This is probably the best Japanese buffet restaurant that I’ve ever been to. They offer so much and at good quality. Note to self: Next time, come with an empty stomach.

Street food from Tenku Bakudanyaki at the Richmond Night Market. Oversized takoyaki served with different toppings. Great concept, but there’s only so much okonomiyaki one can eat, and $5 a piece is a bit much. I tried their pizza one and their curry one. Curry wins.

Asian-fusion desserts from I.C. Desserts at the Richmond Night Market. This is the perfect way to end the night. I’d have to say that the desserts here were worth going the extra mile and stuffing my stomach for. The desserts are not too sweet and just the right size. The black sesame creme brulee and green tea tiramisu definitely hit the spot.
