May 30, 2015 – The highlights for this daytrip includes Coffee Colab, Marugame Monzo and Lady M Cake Boutique. I started the day with a cup of cold-brewed coffee from Coffee Colab in Downtown LA. It was so strong and smooth that it helped me get through the entire day despite little sleep the night before. I even went for a 5 mile run after I arrived back home. I went directly to lunch in Little Tokyo since it was close by. I had the uni udon at Marugame Monzo. The uni was melted into the cream sauce giving a consistent taste of uni in every bite. (I wish there were whole pieces of uni, though.) One more place I’d also like to note is Lady M Cake Boutique. That was definitely the best mille crepe cake I’ve had by far. It’s on the pricy side, but I can see why now.
Coffee Colab – Excellent cold-brewed coffee. JONASAPPROVED!
Marugame Monzo – Fresh-made udon noodles, and of the two most popular dishes, I went for the uni (sea urchin) udon. Next time, I will try their squid ink udon. JONASAPPROVED!
Cafe Dulce – Not exactly a favorite, but I like to come here and try something different every time when I’m in the area. This time I went for their green tea donut with custard.
Lady M Cake Boutique – The best mille crepe cake I’ve had, and just about everything in their display looked like they could easily be the best that I’ve had as well. JONASAPPROVED!
Mainland Poke Shop – Poke shops are popping up left and right on Socal, and this one is worth a try. Very good service!
The Grove – I like to come here for Topman.
A Plus Tea House – I like to come here for boba milk tea and popcorn chicken. Everything is good and it’s not too crowded since it’s away from the businesses of Valley Blvd.
Lemonade LAX – They make airport food something to look forward to. I love their truffle mac and cheese, and of course, their various flavors of lemonade too. JONASAPPROVED!
