Izakaya (Japanese Tapas) at Nombe in the Mission

Butternut squash tempura roll – green tea salt

This city doesn’t have enough izakaya style restaurants. Nombe seems to fit right in to the Mission. Short and to the point: Portions are often times a bit small, but overall, everything is good. The brussel sprouts, pork belly, and butternut squash tempura rolls are some of my favorites. As for dessert, their melt-in-your-mouth beignets are a must, and their kabocha mochi is something different and is good if you want dessert minus all that sugar.

I love Izakayas, 100 Yen ($1) beer… you definitely can’t beat that! Add good food and a nice surrounding and you have a perfect night.
