I’m not quite sure why kaya toast isn’t popular here in the states. Kaya is a spread made of coconut milk, eggs, sugar, and pandan leaves. I’ve heard my friends talk about it, but I just finally got to try it during my recent visit to Kopitiam Cafe in Milpitas, also serving a few other Singaporean and Malaysian snacks, dishes and drinks. The roti was nice and flaky, and the spicy dipping curry sauce was also a favorite of mine. Laksa, also a hit, and service is great. It’s out of the way for me but I’ll definitely be back for more!
