Pineapple Cake

There are so many options for pineapple cakes (鳳梨酥) in Taiwan, and it seems to be hard to go wrong as long as you get them from a place that’s always packed like Chia Te Bakery (佳德糕餅), or from a place that wraps each individual cake in such luxury that you won’t want to open it, like this one from Jiu Zhen Nan Taiwan Pastry (舊振南餅店). Aside from being wrapped and sealed in plastic, each cake is also enclosed in a golden box that resumbles a gold bar, then they’re all cased in a bigger box of royal colors. The cakes are soft in texture, both the inside and out, that you could eat it with your tongue. (Slight exagerration.)

Thanks for the box, Aggie!

Hi I’m from Singapore and some years ago I went to Taiwan on a tour and bought a few boxes of the pineapple cakes. I must say I have never eaten such delicious stuff before! Wondering if anyone sells these in Singapore..

I’m sure you can find pineapple cakes in Singapore, but just not the same bakeries. The ones here in America don’t even compare to the ones in Taiwan.

Chia Te is not worth the effort to get, its just “marketing effort”, there are many “truly good ones”
