Must Eat Chocolate Velvet Cupcake at Kara’s Cupcakes

February 28th, 2010 by Jonas / Filed under Bakery, Food, Must Eat / Leave A Comment

Ethan and Thanh hasn’t been to the original Kara’s Cupcakes in the Marina, and Chantelle hasn’t had many cupcakes since she’s moved to the city, so we had to go. After all, it’s the mother of all cupcakes in San Francisco. I think I’ve changed to a new favorite at Kara’s: chocolate velvet. The chocolate [...]

Must Eat Mini Cupcakes at Cups and Cakes Bakery

February 17th, 2010 by Jonas / Filed under Bakery, Dessert, Food, Must Eat / Leave A Comment

I needed last minute cupcakes for Valentine’s Day and Cups and Cakes Bakery came to my rescue. Their cupcakes are just slightly heavier than what I usually like, but to each his own. I’ve actually always been a fan of their cupcakes ever since I tried them a couple years ago at the Yelp holiday [...]

Red Velvet Cupcake at Baked

February 11th, 2010 by Jonas / Filed under Bakery, Dessert, Food / Leave A Comment

I was in the neighborhood so I figured I should pay a visit to my favorite underrated bakery, Baked. I like their cupcakes. I really think they’re the most underrated cupcakes in the city, possibly because Baked is located in Potrero Hill – way out of the way from everyone else. Their cupcakes are always [...]

Kara’s Cupcakes for Linda’s Birthday

December 9th, 2009 by Jonas / Filed under Bakery, Dessert, Food / Leave A Comment

We celebrated Linda’s birthday with cupcakes from Kara’s Cupcakes. Only the best for Linda! Kara’s had a peppermint cupcake, which is seasonal. The frosting had bits of peppermint in it. Delicious. Too bad Linda ate the entire cupcake up, leaving only a bit of the frosting behind. At least I got that much.

Cupcakes at Babycakes

December 6th, 2009 by Jonas / Filed under Bakery, Dessert, Food, San Diego, Travels / Leave A Comment

Cupcakes at Babycakes are nice and moist. They’re not my favorite, but they’re pretty good, especially if you like your cakes big and dense. There are tons of flavors, from usual flavors like vanilla and red velvet to somewhat usual flavors like pistachio and mocha to not so usual flavors like guava/mango and blood orange. [...]

Must Eat Ube, Buko Pandan, and Red Velvet Cupcakes from Auntie Em’s Fine Foods & Pastries

November 14th, 2009 by Jonas / Filed under Bakery, Dessert, Filipino, Food, Must Eat / Leave A Comment

I always go to Auntie Em’s Fine Foods & Pastries after eating at Karilagan since they’re right next door to each other. I always get their cheese rolls – a bit of a sugar rush but I love it there – and whatever other pastries they have. I also grabbed some of their polvoron: regular, [...]

Lemon Cupcake from Sprinkles Cupcakes

November 13th, 2009 by Jonas / Filed under Bakery, Dessert, Food / Leave A Comment

I haven’t had a cupcake from Sprinkles Cupcakes in ages. Thankfully, our finance/accounting department at work had a group birthday celebration and I was invited. I don’t know what it is about Sprinkles but when you bite into it, you just know it’s from Sprinkles. It has a flavor that can’t be replicated. I went [...]

Must Eat Meyer Lemony Lemon Cupcake at Kara’s Cupcakes

October 25th, 2009 by Jonas / Filed under Bakery, Dessert, Food, Must Eat / Leave A Comment

I can’t believe I haven’t been to Kara’s Cupcakes in so long – so long that I don’t even remember when the last time I went was. All I can remember is that there was a point in my life where I would go just about every week. Then, the whole ice cream trend in [...]

Cupcakes at Cloudy Cupcake in Eslite

September 13th, 2009 by Jonas / Filed under Bakery, Dessert, Food, Taiwan, Travels / Leave A Comment

I had to make another visit to Cloudy Cupcake in Eslite because I lost all my pictures from my first visit there. Besides, at about NT$50 a cupcake, they’re actually very cheap compared to US standards. Plus, they had a lot of different flavors this time. This time, Jann, Steve and I shared seven cupcakes: [...]

Cupcakes at Ginjer

September 10th, 2009 by Jonas / Filed under Bakery, Dessert, Food, Taiwan, Travels / Leave A Comment

Being that I am a huge cupcake fanatic, I had to check out Ginjer. It seems to be the only other cupcakery in Taipei, aside from Cloudy Cupcake in Eslite. I didn’t like their taro as much as Cloudy’s, but their red velvet was pretty good, and if you like rich chocolate, then their chocolate [...]
