Hot Apple Pie Drink at Posh

January 16th, 2010 by Jonas / Filed under Coffee & Drinks, Dessert, Food, French, Taiwan, Travels / Leave A Comment

We went to Posh II (the second location of Posh) for dessert. Their desserts didn’t have much of a wow factor, although their hot apple pie drink really did taste like a warm apple pie, but in drink form. Everything else (chocolate with ice cream, yogurt drink, crepe) was okay.

Pork Cutlet at Zhu Wu (Butaya)

January 16th, 2010 by Jonas / Filed under Food, Japanese, Taiwan, Travels / Leave A Comment

When it comes to deep fried pork cutlet (tonkatsu), Zhu Wu (豚屋日式炸豬排), or “Bataya” in Japanese, does a very good job. The pork comes out nicely battered, crispy and flaky, while the meat remains juicy. The curry is good, or if you want something sweeter, their green onion sauce mix was delicious. Now, all they [...]

Cakes at Crown

January 15th, 2010 by Jonas / Filed under Bakery, Coffee & Drinks, Food, Taiwan, Travels / Leave A Comment

The cakes at Crown beats the cakes at other drink places. My favorites were the green tea mousse cake and the strawberry chocolate tart. Crown is open 24 hours so it’s an ideal place for people with a sweet tooth to hang out. I also had their “Steamed Taffy Milk” and it was delicious.

Pizza at Primo Trattoria

January 15th, 2010 by Jonas / Filed under Food, Italian, Taiwan, Travels / Leave A Comment

I’m a thin crust pizza fan so I had to try out Primo Trattoria. Overall, I’d say it’s compareable to that of Fifteen Napoletano Pizza, except it’s a lot more expensive. Toppings are different, though. For pizza, I’d recommend 15, but if you want other dishes like pasta as well, Primo Trattoria is a good [...]

Must Eat Dinner at M Cafe

January 11th, 2010 by Jonas / Filed under Food, Italian, Must Eat, Taiwan, Travels / 1 Comment

Of all the “westernized” places in Taipei, my most favorite place for dinner by far has got to be M Cafe (門卡迪) at Ximending. At about NT$500 (or US$17), you can get a five course meal consisting of your choice of: soup, salad/appetizer, entree, drink, and dessert. The only thing disappointing was probably the soup, [...]

Jennifer’s favorite place for duck blood and stinky tofu soup is 8 Years Got (八年得) around Zhongxiao Dunhua (中校鈍化). Thanks for sharing with us, Jen! It was delicious.

Omelette Rice at Tamago Ya

January 11th, 2010 by Jonas / Filed under Food, Japanese, Taiwan, Travels / Leave A Comment

I am a sucker for cute, westernized restaurants in Taiwan, and that’s why I had to try out Tamago Ya (蛋蛋屋洋食館) since I kept seeing it everywhere. Karen and I went to the one in the Living Mall (京華城). It was not bad. Their pork cutlet was crispy and moist, and their omelette rice was [...]

Clubbing at Primo

January 10th, 2010 by Jonas / Filed under Events, Parties, Taiwan, Travels / Leave A Comment

I finally got to party at Primo. I’ve been hearing so much about Primo. Overall, I like the venue. It’s loungier than Spark and the music is pretty good. The place looks nice, Vegas style. However, I don’t like how the designated dance floor is just so tiny.

Clubbing at Spark

January 10th, 2010 by Jonas / Filed under Events, Parties, Taiwan, Travels / Leave A Comment

Partying at Spark at Taipei 101 this time was definitely a lot more comfortable than the last time I went back in September, and just as fun. It was extremely hot and stuffy last time, but this time, the club wasn’t as crowded, though it was still packed. More fun times in Taiwan, indeed!

Drinking at OPUS Bar

January 10th, 2010 by Jonas / Filed under Taiwan, Travels / Leave A Comment

We kicked off Friday night with a little bit of drinking at OPUS Bar, and by little I mean only one drink for me. We mainly just shot pool there, which is a horrible place to play because the room is too small for the pool table. This seems like an American hang-out spot since [...]
