Three patties, one pound, five minutes. Usually, Burger Avenue lets the burger cool down first for a few minutes before they start the clock but this time, they rushed me because they were closing in half an hour. My whole mouth was burned and was in pain for days.

Video Blog 10: Eating Balut (Fertilized Duck Egg)
January 25th, 2010 by Jonas / Filed under Video Blog / Leave A CommentI actually used to eat balut all the time as a kid, even after I moved to the states, but after time, it started to look more and more disgusting so I stopped. This was my first time eating in about 20 years. That first soup of the soup inside brought back nostalgic memories.

Must Eat Green Tea Anmitsu at Kozui Green Tea
January 24th, 2010 by Jonas / Filed under Dessert, Food, Japanese, Must Eat, Philippines, Travels / Leave A Comment
I didn’t think I would find a non-Filipino dessert that I’d really like in the Philippines. I tried the green tea anmitsu at Kozui Green Tea in Quezon City and it had just about every Asian ingredients I like in my Asian desserts. Green tea jelly, adzuki beans, taro paste, mochi, and soft serve green [...]

Filipino Food at Bagoong Club Resto in Quezon City
January 24th, 2010 by Jonas / Filed under Filipino, Food, Philippines, Travels / Leave A Comment
I had another enjoyable Filipino meal, this time for dinner at Bagoong Club Resto in Quezon City. They specialize in … you guessed it – bagoong. Anyway, I liked this restaurant. I can’t quite remember everything I ate, especially since I didn’t take many pictures, but this was one of my favorite Filipino restaurants that [...]

One Pound Burger at Burger Avenue
January 23rd, 2010 by Jonas / Filed under American, Food, Philippines, Travels / Leave A Comment
During my whole time in Asia, I was craving just one good, meaty, juicy burger. I was looking for a burger that would make me not want to eat another burger for at least another month. I had pretty good ones at Monkey Hurry in Taiwan, but the one pound burger I had at Burger [...]

Clubbing at Encore (Formerly Embassy) in Makati
January 23rd, 2010 by Jonas / Filed under Events, Parties, Philippines, Travels / Leave A Comment
First time ever hitting the clubs in Makati. We went to Encore, which was formerly Embassy. Really good music, and better than the clubs here in SF sometimes. It has a hotel vibe inside with its layout. We had to cut out early though because Tiff got too drunk hehe. (Photos courtesy of Dona)

Must Eat Young Coconut Pie at Colette’s Buko Pie at Pasalubong
January 23rd, 2010 by Jonas / Filed under Bakery, Dessert, Filipino, Food, Must Eat, Philippines, Travels / 1 Comment
Now here’s something I’ve never eaten before: buko pie. It’s a pie filled with young coconut. I’m used to eating coconut cream pie, but never one filled with young coconut meat. We kept passing by Colette’s Buko Pie at Pasalubong all over Tagatay, so finally, we went to one so I could try their pie. [...]

Crepes at Cafe Breton in Tagaytay
January 23rd, 2010 by Jonas / Filed under Food, French, Philippines, Travels / Leave A Comment
We grabbed some crepes at Cafe Breton. You just can’t go wrong with nutella crepes; however, they had something that I’m not used to seeing in American menus: mango crepes. The crepe is filled with sliced mangos and heated so it’s nice and hot, topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and covered with [...]

Filipino Food at Antonio’s Grill in Tagaytay
January 23rd, 2010 by Jonas / Filed under Filipino, Food, Philippines, Travels / Leave A Comment
We had a big lunch at Antonio’s Grill in Tagaytay. Not a bad choice to eat, though I’ve had better. Their sizzling bulalo (beef and bone marrow) was good. I also liked their spicy ginisang hipon (shrimps). My favorite, though, was their turron with tikoy. The tikoy offered a nice chewy texture that you usually [...]

Must Eat Roasted Chicken at Andok’s Litson
January 22nd, 2010 by Jonas / Filed under Filipino, Food, Must Eat, Philippines, Travels / Leave A Comment
Andok’s Litson is like meat heaven, and it’s located all over the Philippines so access to it is easy. Their specialty is litson manok (roasted chicken), and it was really good, even a day after. The meat was juicy and the skin was crispy. Their litson kawali (roasted pork) was also good, especially its crispy [...]
