Tuttimelon Grand Reopening at North Beach/Chinatown

February 1st, 2010 by Jonas / Filed under Coffee & Drinks, Dessert, Food / Leave A Comment

The Tuttimelon in Chinatown/North Beach reopened this weekend, now as a self-serve frozen yogurt shop and as a hybrid store along with Tea Way, i.e., they now offer pearl milk tea drinks and fried snacks. They also still serve gelato (since they also used to be Yoogo Gelato). They were offering free frozen yogurt today [...]

Must Eat French Macarons and Quiche Lorraine at Patisserie Philippe

February 1st, 2010 by Jonas / Filed under Bakery, Dessert, Food, French, Must Eat / Leave A Comment

This was my first time having savory items at Patisserie Philippe, but I wasn’t surprised at all at how good they were since they know how to do pastries right. I really liked their quiche lorraine (quiche with bacon and onions). It was light and not too salty. Just right. Their other savory pastry that [...]

Must Eat Blueberry Bread Pudding at Sandbox Bakery

February 1st, 2010 by Jonas / Filed under Bakery, Food, Must Eat / Leave A Comment

I haven’t been to Sandbox Bakery ever since I left for vacation. Nothing has changed – everything is still good. This time, I tried their blueberry bread pudding. It’s one of the best bread puddings I’ve had. It’s lighter than when I get it at other American bakeries, yet it’s still very moist, and most [...]

Brunch at Bushi-Tei Bistro

December 21st, 2009 by Jonas / Filed under Food, Japanese / Leave A Comment

We had brunch at Bushi-Tei Bistro. This place never impressed me much – all show and no go – but they do offer a great lunch special: your choice of ramen and a choice of another item. I went with their chicken karaage ramen with a chirashi bowl. It was not bad, and the side [...]

Jasmine Green Milk Tea Frappe at Mango Medley

December 19th, 2009 by Jonas / Filed under Chinese, Dessert, Food / Leave A Comment

I think I’ve just discovered a new favorite drink of mine: the jasmine green milk tea frappe at Mango Medley. It’s like drinking a jasmine green milk tea but with blended ice that’s not too thick or crunchy that you’d have to actually bite it after drinking. Very refreshing!

Filipino Food at Tribu Grill in San Bruno

December 19th, 2009 by Jonas / Filed under Filipino, Food / Leave A Comment

I just had a great dinner at Tribu Grill for my birthday – it’s still kinda early but I’ll take it!) – thanks to Jessica, Jann, Mae, Steve and Veronica. Great service. My favorite was their binagoongan fried rice. It’s always too salty for me elsewhere.
Everything was good though: their lumpiang Shanghai (kinda small, though), [...]

Frozen Yogurt at Fraiche Yogurt

November 8th, 2009 by Jonas / Filed under Dessert, Food / Leave A Comment

I don’t really care much for frozen yogurt since I’m more of an ice cream guy, but I still had to try out Fraiche Yogurt since it’s new, popular, and we were in the neighborhood. I just had a small cup of their regular, fat-free natural frozen yogurt. Veronica went for their pomegranate. They were [...]

Brunch at Fresca

November 7th, 2009 by Jonas / Filed under Food, Peruvian / Leave A Comment

We had brunch at Fresca on Fillmore to celebrate Veronica’s birthday. Most of us ordered off their brunch menu since it’s only available during the weekends. I went with their huevos en cazuela, which had two baked eggs with shrimps, mushrooms, spinach, lobster sauce, potatoes and jack cheese. I’ve never had anything like it before [...]

August 17th, 2009 by Jonas / Filed under Food, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese / Leave A Comment

I only had two meals today. Crazy! I feel so fit since I went running after lunch and worked out before dinner.
Lunch at Ngoc Mai Restaurant with the church folks. I had my usual – bun bo hue.
Dinner with Linda at Drunken Sushi. We had our usual – hoedeopbap – or what they like to [...]

Sunday’s Eats: Phat Philly, Anthony’s Cookies, Humphry Slocombe Ice Cream, and Beretta

July 27th, 2009 by Jonas / Filed under American, Bakery, Deli, Dessert, Food, Italian, Tapas Bar / 2 Comments

Lunch today was not very healthy, but all those calories were definitely worth it. After church, we went straight to Phat Philly since none of them (Steve, Jann, Mae and Veronica) have been there before, and I’ve been raving about it since forever. They all enjoyed it. I went with their Italian beef sandwich this [...]
