Taiwan in April 2016

April 9, 2016 – April 13, 2016 – This was one of my shorter visits to Taiwan – not even a week. I had to cram in as much as I could in the short time I had.

New finds:
Sip on drinks 45 floors above at the new rooftop bar of Morton’s Steakhouse in the new Breeze in Xinyi. The view is amazing!
Try other xiaolongbao 小籠包 restaurants aside from Din Tai Fung 鼎泰豐, like Li Yuan Dumplings 梨園湯包. DTF is still king of xlb, but Li Yuan also offers other must-try items such as their oyster xlb 蚵仔小籠包, salted egg buns 流沙包, and pumpkin black sesame dumplings 南瓜芝麻包.
Eat regional Chinese/Taiwanese dishes at 海真私房菜 and 阿才的店.
Eat sushi at 瞞著爹壽司吧. The menu is omakase only, and they offer very good deals during lunch.
Have an afternoon snack at パンとエスプレッソと bread, espresso&,台湾, from Japan. Their French toast is custardy and comes served in a skillet.
Order a whole Peking duck at 天廚菜館, served 3 ways.
Not that you should visit Taiwan for dim sum, but if you do want it, they finally have a good option: Tim Ho Wan 添好運.

Always a fave:
Iced milk with brown sugar boba at 陳三鼎黑糖青蛙撞奶 and guabao 割包 at 藍家割包.
Late night cheap xlb at 正好鮮肉小籠湯包, hidden at a parallel street from Linjiang Street (Tonghua) Night Market. The deep fried squid from Hijacking 海炸王 鮮炸魷魚 at the night market is also a must.
Purple rice rice roll 紫米飯糰 at 劉家飯糰.
