October 20, 2015 – October 23, 2015 – I didn’t originally plan on visiting Bangkok, especially since I was just there a year ago, but was along the way to my final destination, so why not? Aside from riding on elephants, holding tigers, and getting held by elephants at the Nong Nooch Tropical Botanical Garden in Pataya, and aside from the hour-long full body Thai massage for only US$7 at Shewa Spa, here are the delicious highlights of my trip:
Okura Prestige Bangkok – This was the hotel I stayed at and my entire experience was amazing. Everything about it was five stars – the location, the porters and hospitality crew, the rooms, the food, and my favorite, the infinity pool overlooking the city of Bangkok from 25 floors above. Since the hotel is fairly new and I stayed during the weekdays, there were times when I had the entire pool to myself. I wouldn’t mind coming back to Bangkok just so I can stay here again. JONASAPPROVED!
Nara Thai Cuisine at Central Embassy – It’s fancier Thai food and the food and the view are excellent. JONASAPPROVED!
ร้าน มิตรโกหย่วน (Mit Ko Yuan) – Some of the best Thai food I’ve had. Crab omelette, spicy fried clams, and pad see you – all for US$6.50! JONASAPPROVED!
ปรีชา ซีฟู้ด (Preecha Seafood) – This was my favorite meal the entire trip. The steamed egg curry crab was one of the best crab dishes I’ve ever had. JONASAPPROVED!
Other places I enjoyed were Kyo Roll En for their matcha soft serve and roll cakes, มนต์ นมสด (Mont Nomsod) for their Thai iced tea (“cha nom yen”, which I just learned) as well as their toast, though I didn’t care too much for that part, and Somtam นัว for Thai food in the mall.
